History and Origin
The origins of the Cosmopolitan cocktail are somewhat convoluted, with several people claiming to have invented it. The most popular theory is that it was created in the 1980s by Cheryl Cook, the Martini Queen of South Beach. She mixed Absolut Citron with Cointreau, a little lime juice and added cranberry juice to create a gorgeous pink. The cocktail quickly became popular, especially after it was prominently featured in the TV series "Sex and the City," and is now considered a modern classic.
