Description

The Margarita is a classic cocktail made with tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. It is part of the "sour" family of cocktails and is often served with salt on the rim of the glass. The Margarita can be served either shaken with ice (on the rocks), straight up, or mixed with ice (frozen margarita). Most bars serve margaritas in a tiered variation of a cocktail glass or champagne coupe. The Margarita is related to the Brandy Daisy (margarita is Spanish for "daisy"), which was remade using tequila instead of brandy. There is a story from 1936 reported by an Iowa newspaper, years before the other Margarita "creation myths" arose.
