History and Origin
The Caipirinha originates from Brazil and is known there as the secret national drink. The name “Caipirinha” is the diminutive form of the Brazilian word “Caipira”, which means “country dweller” or “provincial”. Originally, the cocktail was mainly drunk by farmers, who often distilled the cachaça used for the cocktail themselves. Today, the Caipirinha is popular worldwide and is available in almost every bar.
